TURKSTAT Published Real Estate Sales Data In February 2023
House sales in Turkey in February decreased by 18.0% compared to the same month last year and amounted to 80,031.
Istanbul had the highest proportion of house sales with 14,980 house sales and 18.7%. Istanbul is followed by Ankara with 8,235 house sales and a 10.3% share, as well as Izmir with 5,310 sales and a share of 6.3%. The provinces with the least number of houses sold were Hakkari with 16 houses, Ardahan with 30 houses and Tunceli with 47 houses respectively.
House sales in January-February decreased by 4.4% compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 177,739.
Sales of mortgage houses in Turkey in February decreased by 12.7% compared to the same month of the previous year and amounted to 17,357. The share of mortgage sales in total housing sales amounted to 21.7%. Mortgage house sales in January-February, on the contrary, decreased by 11.8% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 33,560 units. 5,093 mortgage sales in February and 9,353 mortgage sales in January-February were first-hand sales.
According to the results of other sales, 62,674 houses changed hands in February.


House sales to foreigners in February decreased by 27.0% compared to the same month last year and amounted to 3,350. In February, the share of housing sales to foreigners in the total volume of housing sales was 4.2%.
House sales to foreigners in January-February decreased by 14.4% compared to the same period last year and amounted to 7,511. Depending on the nationality of the country, the majority of house sales were made to citizens of the Russian Federation.
In February, citizens of the Russian Federation bought 1,183 houses in Turkey. Citizens of the Russian Federation are followed by Iran with 446, Iraq with 173 and Ukraine with 142 houses respectively.
