How to assess the level of a contractor in Turkiye
There are a lot of questions about choosing a contractor in Turkey and here are what you can pay attention to when choosing a contractor.
Â
In Turkey, the construction industry is licensed and subordinated to the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization and Climate.
Â
The regulation on the classification of contractors in the field of construction identified 14 main groups of construction companies from A to H. Level A contractors are the strongest players in the market, H are usually novice contractors.
Â
These 14 main groups are;
A, B, B1, C, C1, D, D1, E, E1, F, F1, G, G1, H
Â
Also, in addition to the above groups, there is a temporary license that allows you to build only one structure.
Â
The level assigned to the contractor company shows how many projects the contractor is allowed to build.
Â
The logic here is this;
By obtaining a level H license, the contractor can build a limited number of projects, and having already proved his worth, he can move to a higher level.
Â
Of course, the financial condition of the contractor is also taken into account.
Â
Let's look at the requirements for the contractor using the example of group A.
A level A certified contractor can construct an unlimited number of buildings.
Â
The cumulative scores scored for each item required for this level are taken into account.
Â
Here are the criteria that are evaluated for licensing:
Professional requirements (work experience)
Technical competencies (Workforce - Personnel)
Economic Conditions (Financial Strength - Bank Loans)
Financial competence (positive financial reporting information)
Category A contractor must have at least 294,300,000 TL in accounts.
Â
Pay attention to the first point
Compliance with professional requirements (work experience) is a prerequisite.
Â
It is confirmed by a certificate of professional competence, which is called Mesleki Yeterlilik Belgesi, issued by the state fund only to Turkish citizens.
Â
The desire of the investor to independently understand the issue is respectable, but it is more rational to trust the experts in this field.
